The Project Manager, Operations will provide technical support to manufacturing and packaging operations or other departments, as needed, through the project management of changes needed in process, components or SOP’s. The Project Manager, Operations will play a key role under the direction of the Director, Engineering in the development and implementation of process improvement projects with multiple departments, consultants, and contractors.

The incumbent will need to have experience working in the pharmaceutical manufacturing setting with demonstrated success in a cross-functional team environment. This role includes collaboration with site manufacturing, finance, IT and quality functional resources.

  • Component specs.
  • Changes in component resins.
  • Purchasing new packaging or compounding equipment.
  • Assisting validation in IOQ’s.
  • Investigations in operations.
  • Development of operating SOP’s.
  • Training of operators.
  • Participating in upgrades of the ERP program.
  • Managing and coordinating activities around the production of controlled substance.
  • Assistance in investigation of shipping insurance claims.
  • Cost control and reduction of scrap.
  • Assistance in controlling contract work in GMP areas.
  • During the execution phase this function will assemble implementation teams including various user groups to install, train and run the equipment or system purchased.
  • Project management will include the organization and generation of relevant data and preparation of project scopes, cost estimates, economic justifications, and capital appropriation requests. The position will select equipment, prepare specifications, assemble design documentation, procure equipment, and coordinate installation and start-up activities for systems and equipment.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely allied discipline required or 10 years of practical field experience in a pharmaceutical setting directly liquid, or semi-solid dosage form production required
  • Demonstrated experience with quality systems in a FDA current GMP regulated environment as well as capital project management experience required
  • Established understanding of good mechanical understanding of equipment and systems
  • Hands on knowledge of production operations and associated control systems preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary groups or project teams, and related well to people
  • Availability of multitasking, running multiple projects in parallel
  • Domestic travel periodically required
  • Must have strong technical and analytical skills
  • Ability to meet attendance standards. All full-time employees are required to work a 40-hr week. At times it may be necessary to work additional hours in order to get the required tasks accomplished to meet deadlines.
  • Able to use personal computer and standard office equipment such as fax and copy machines, calculator, and printers. Aptitude to learn computer programs as needed.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. Resourceful and well organized.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
