Job Description

  • Conduct the required Sampling and Testing of Incoming Direct Materials and Finished Blends per established specification, test methods, and per quality system requirements.
  • Carry out extensive testing by use of Gas Chromatography (GC), Liquid Chromatography,(LC), Specific Gravity, Refractive Index (SGRI), and Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR).
  • Pull samples from factory floor and warehouse for test preparation and customer requests
  • Prepare Standards/Extractions/Reagents for testing
  • Calibrate /verify instruments as required prior to testing
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation as needed
  • Extract and prepare samples for instrumental analysis
  • Execute the lab testing protocols
  • Review/approve/ label/ generate COA's for materials disposition
  • Execute the Out of Specification Protocol as required
  • Perform other major activities in the lab per established specification, test methods, and per QMS requirements
  • Maintain the Chemical Inventory list per safety requirement for lab; maintain lab housekeeping per 5S requirements
  • Perform luminometer testing on the bulk liquid hose
  • Perform required testing per ATP Screening by luminometer
  • Document Results on Tote Cleaning/ATP Screening Form
  • Maintain sample inventories, weigh samples, wash glassware, and perform basic laboratory procedures such as sample grinding, pH, etc.
  • Follow written SOPs and conduct instrumental analyses according to written procedures, which may include LC, GC, IC, LC-MS and/or GC-MS

Qualifications
  • Strong experience using GC; GC trouble shooting; and chromatography review and interpretation
  • Experience using LIMs
  • Understanding of laboratory support of manufacturing.
  • 2- or 4- year college degree in chemistry or scientific-related discipline preferred
  • Related laboratory or quality control experience; familiarity with standard lab concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work on feet for long shifts; walk the manufacturing area for sample collection; and lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to support manufacturing schedule by being punctual, reliable, able to multi-task, and maintain flexibility as manufacturing requirements change.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00p.m. There is potential for overtime as needed. Candidates currently living in a commutable distance to Richmond, VA are encouraged to apply.
