Job Description Summary

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for conducting accurate workstation production inspections in a timely manner, checking parts to blueprints, visual welding inspection, filling out necessary documentation, adherence to specifications, identifying non-conformances, effective handling of non-conforming materials, and maintaining the Material Review Board (MRB) area.

Responsibilities

  • Follow directions or directives from the Quality Control Manager.
  • Conduct workstation production inspections according to the inspection schedule and priority set by the Quality Control Manager.
  • Ensure timely inspections to minimize production delays.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy of parts using appropriate measuring tools and equipment.
  • Compare inspected parts to blueprints, drawings, or specifications to identify deviations or non-conformances.
  • Record inspection results accurately and promptly in designated documentation systems.
  • Fill out all necessary documentation, including tags, inspection reports, checklists, and required forms or records.
  • Inspect finished products or completed assemblies for final inspection, following provided specifications, blueprints, or drawings.
  • Visual inspection of welded product to relevant AWS code specifications & drawings.
  • Inspect incoming materials, components, or parts at the receiving area from outside vendors for defects, damages, deviations, or inconsistencies.
  • Identify non-conforming parts and initiate appropriate actions as per established procedures.
  • Maintain the MRB area, ensuring it is organized, clean, and easily accessible.
  • Collaborate with the MRB team and participate in MRB meetings or discussions as needed.
  • Actively troubleshoot quality-related issues or problems encountered during inspections.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in quality control or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of welding and AWS code specifications.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and procedures.
  • Familiarity with measuring tools and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficient in using computer and software applications for documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay rate is $25/hr.
