Mueller is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries and we currently have an opening in our Kimball, TN plant for a Quality Technician. The primary function of the person filling this position is to perform part, process, and system audits as well as to conduct part/product dimensional layouts to ensure adherence to the Mueller operating procedures, guidelines, and specifications. Daily documentation, interpretation and reporting of those findings to the appropriate management function will be required. Overtime and Weekends will be required according to general production schedules.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct dimensional and visual layout of parts to determine conformance to specifications. Use of Digital Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and other measuring tools as required.
  • Conduct system and/or process audits in the different areas of the Plant as specified by Management to determine conformance to specifications. Areas to audit include, but are not limited to, all production, machine shop, inventory and shipping areas.
  • Conduct part/product analysis using mathematical and statistical models. Develop error detecting, error proofing and quality improvement tools and methods.
  • Conduct the Receiving Inspection function on items purchased from outside vendors to determine conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct gauge calibration activities as needed and maintain computerized gauge calibration system.
  • Assist all engineering functions as required in regard to product testing, special projects, and development of QC systems.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm's length, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds, and up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision and color vision.
  • Ability to use power tools, air tools and other vibratory tools.
  • Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work around hot heavy machinery
  • Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold)


Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Associates Degree or comparable training and experience. Previous experience in inspections in a manufacturing environment a plus. Familiarity with Blueprints, Specifications, 3D applications and Microsoft Office Software.
