Position Overview

Novelis Guthrie is seeking a dynamic and experienced Reliability Engineer for our automotive finishing plant in Guthrie, KY. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing performance and improving equipment reliability by reducing machine downtime and unscheduled maintenance.

We are looking for a collaborative team player with initiative to own and drive the reliability of the HTL/PTL lines in alignment with the facilities WCM® excellence. A successful candidate will be self-directed and will have the ability to communicate with team members at all levels.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and drive the Guthrie Condition Monitoring Program, as it pertains to Predictive and Preventive Maintenance, Infrared Thermography, Tribology, Ultrasonic, Vibration Analysis, Motor Circuit Analysis, etc.
  • Providing technical expertise to execute cost effective preventive and predictive asset strategies to achieve best in class availability and reliability of the plant process equipment
  • Providing support for equipment related loss investigations to determine casual factors and provide technical recommendations and mitigation plans to prevent reoccurrence
  • Collaborating with operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement and other identified stakeholders to drive improved asset availability and support fit for purpose training on reliability work processes and practices
  • Support equipment related data capture for analysis and trending to establish equipment health, evaluation of risk, identifying bad actors and opportunities for improvement
  • Publishing Reliability Key Performance Indicators to measure and improve Reliability performance of the equipment assets and reliability related work processes
  • Assessing Equipment Criticalities and assist in developing Asset Strategies to achieve cost effective reliability, availability and performance of the plant equipment
  • Ensuring the facility's assets are operating reliably, efficiently, and compliant with all safety guidelines and government regulations
  • Assist in developing 1-year and 3-year Reliability Tactical Plan Plans to improve equipment availability and performance
  • Assist in supporting Maintenance in the development of forward looking multi-year equipment replacement and overhaul plans
  • Identifying opportunities to use reliability best practices, technology, automation and Artificial Intelligence to promote cost effective asset care and performance
  • Supporting Maintenance in the review and rationalization and optimization of effective PM plans
  • Utilizes communication skills to establish partnerships across to the site to achieve plant performance goals
  • Working a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend duty as necessary to manage facility performance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree or combination of post-secondary education and related experiencepreferred
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Maintenance, Engineering, or Operations, Aluminum industry preferred
  • Experience in developing and implementing improvement processes and projects
  • Knowledge of reliability centered maintenance and ability to facilitate investigations and develop mitigation plans to address findings
  • Experience with maintenance best practices such as Precision Maintenance techniques (e.g. dynamic balancing, equipment alignment, equipment repair standards, etc.)
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (i.e. Vibration, Tribology, Thermography, Ultrasound, Motor Circuit Analysis)
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Process Control
  • Experience with proactive reliability tools and Root-Cause-Analysis methodology
  • Experience with MS Project
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment issues and analyzing production loss and reliability data
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
Location Profile

Novelis' Guthrie facility is located in Guthrie Kentucky approximately 30 minutes from the Tennessee state line near Clarksville Tennessee and Hopkinsville Kentucky. As Novelis' newest facility Guthrie will house a heat treatment and pretreatment line that will serve the North American automotive market and employ 125 residents. In addition to hunting fishing and hiking residents enjoy the Guthrie Transportation Museum which is the hub of the city's renewal efforts.
