Job Summary

This position plays a crucial role in supporting faculty members in securing external funding for research projects. This position is responsible for conducting targeted grant searches, providing comprehensive grant development and processing support, and facilitating the preparation of high-quality grant proposals. The Specialist is responsible for tracking and reporting on active and upcoming solicitations and programs, assisting faculty in creating timelines for proposal development, and maintaining resources that aid in grant writing.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts targeted grant searches and provides grant development and processing support to faculty
2. Tracks and reports on active and upcoming solicitations and programs
3. Assists faculty with creating a timeline for writing grant proposals
4. Maintains and distributes resources for faculty on grant writing and proposal development, including templates, checklists, example proposals, etc.
5. Assists recipients of internal seed funding, especially those from the Division of Organizational Effectiveness, Leadership Development, and Inclusive Excellence, with the preparation of proposals for extramural funding
6. Copyedits grant proposals and related documents for faculty
7. Tracks limited submission opportunities and coordinates internal reviews to applicants for these limited submission opportunities
8. Creates initial faculty profiles and works with faculty to update and maintain their profiles
9. Maintains information on proposal preparation requirements for relevant federal, state, and local sponsors, as well as private foundations and industry partners
10. Prepares tables, graphs, and other visual aids for presentations and reports related to Research Development and Strategic Initiatives (RDSI)

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Required Experience
Four (4) years of related professional work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Preferred Experience
Experience submitting grant proposals to federal or non-profit funding agencies

Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and follow-up skills
Demonstrated ability to perform efficiently with a professional demeanor in a diverse work environment under stringent and changing deadlines.
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
