The Department of Rehabilitation Research at Baylor Scott & White (BSW) Institute for Rehabilitation has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow starting in summer/Fall 2021. Under the direction of Chad Swank, PT, PhD, the department is studying the role of technology in neurorehabilitation settings. Our current focus is to understand the use of robotic exoskeletons and neuromodulation (VNS, tDCS, and TMS) approaches in people after neurologic injury including stroke, TBI, and SCI. The fellow will specifically focus on investigating recovery of gait function after stroke and SCI. Research will involve use of overground robotic exoskeletons and transcranial magnetic stimulation and lesion-symptom mapping analyses to study the neural bases of locomotion.

The fellow will be expected to contribute to the current line of work, while exploring related larger themes to establish an independent line of work in neurorehabilitation. This is a 2-3-year position and offers a competitive salary and benefits.

BSW Institute for Rehabilitation is nationally known for its clinical practice and research in neurorehabilitation. The lead center on the North Texas TBI Model Systems, BSW engages high quality clinical care and actively executes research projects funded by NIDILRR, DoD, PCORI, and various Foundations. The current position is funded through grant support by NIDILRR and DoD. The Fellow will have the opportunity to participate in formal training curriculum in translational neurorehabilitation.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should hold a PhD, or anticipate a PhD by summer 2021, in Movement Science, Rehabilitation Science, Kinesiology, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline. Favorable consideration will be given to applicants with substantial interest and experience in neuromodulation, a rehabilitation license with prior experience working with clinical populations; skills in programming, data analysis, and statistics; and a strong record of research productivity.
