DFA Rotational Accounting Analyst will train and learn from various functional leaders/managers in four areas; Operational Accounting, Internal Audit, Corporate Accounting, and Inventory Costing Accounting over a four-year timeframe, as assigned by the DFA Program Sponsor. After completion of the Rotational program, successful candidates will be offered a position commensurate with experience acquired during the program. The Rotational Accounting Analyst will develop a good understanding of DFA's systems and processes in Manufacturing Operational Accounting, Internal Audit, Corporate Accounting and Inventory Costing Accounting as well as gain an understanding of the dairy industry. The Rotational Accounting Analyst will learn DFA's culture, value system and business model to work effectively within it.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Operational Accounting:

  • Assist with month-end closing process including journal entry preparation and monthly financial reporting
  • Preparation of accounts payable vouchers
  • Preparation of account reconciliations including maintaining manufacturing clearing accounts
  • Assist in review of marketing spends
  • Assist in review and payment of commissions and broker incentives
  • Miscellaneous projects as needed.
Internal Audit:
  • Performs or assists in performing financial and operational audits in a professional manner
  • Interviews persons under audit to gain understanding of how the system operates
  • Performs transaction and compliance testing to evaluate the existence, efficiency, and effectiveness of internal control procedures
  • Prepares audit workpapers documenting each audit step in the audit program. Ensures that information is presented clearly, concisely, accurately, in logical format
  • Makes or assists in making oral or written presentations to management during and at conclusion of an audit, discussing deficiencies, recommending corrective action, and suggesting improvements in internal controls
  • Provides input for revision of audit programs where necessary to accomplish audit objectives
  • Assists in special projects as assigned by Internal Audit management
  • Assists the Company's external auditors by preparing workpapers and schedules
Corporate Accounting:
  • Assist in the annual budgeting and allocation process
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Assist in Board Statement preparation
  • Prepare reconciliation of general ledger accounts. Analyze accounts for reasonableness and accuracy
  • Assist in the monthly financial statement close process
  • Special projects as assigned
Inventory Cost Accounting:
  • Assist manufacturing plants with costing and OPEX analysis
  • Prepare monthly KPI's that help drive results and achievement of financial goals
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities

Education & Experience:
  • Four year Bachelor's degree required in Accounting. Master's degree preferred.
