Position Summary

As a key member of the plant leadership team, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead the Manufacturing Engineering Team, at the Chelmsford facility, to identify and drive process improvements insuring stable, capable, and efficient processes throughout the manufacturing supply chain in support of the sterile disposable and instrumentation manufacturing processes. In addition, this position is responsible for building organizational capability within the team around Leadership acumen, Operations acumen, and Business acumen and continuous improvement.

Principal Responsibilities

• Oversees the day-to-day work of Manufacturing Engineering department employees and manages their performance and development by facilitating training and providing performance feedback and guidance.
• Coaches, mentors, and leads team members in the pursuit of individual and department goals
• Hands on leader able to dive deep into issues and opportunities
• Lead and drive the team for continuous improvement projects and standardization to support best in class lean manufacturing systems to maximize yield, capacity, and capability
• Lead supporting activities for engineering and manufacturing including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities, material handling improvements, production line configuration, and safety procedures
• Drives problem-solving techniques including data analysis, 5 why, 8D, process mapping, FMEAs, etc.
• Support the complaince process by understanding manufacturing process related failures and implementing corrective actions.
• Lead the team to generate, execute, and track business improvement ideas for cost reduction, labor savings, material flow and safety improvements
• Analyzes and provides guidance on production line capacity in order to meet current and future production targets
• Leads and develops process qualification programs for all plant processes and equipment. Provides oversight to the team to write and approve protocols and reports, analyze test results, and recommend actions.
• Plans plant capital expenditures and oversees the execution of capital projects
• Coordinate with R&D in suport of product development transfer to manufacturing. Insure the appropriate manufacturing plans are defined, including risk analysis and validation strategies-IQ, OQ, PQ.
• Leads and develops process qualification programs for all plant processes and equipment. Provides oversight to the team to write and approve protocols and reports, analyze test results, and recommend actions.
• Works with other engineering groups to support component change management while meeting all regulatory requirements

Education / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• 10 years of related experience in manufactruing engineering desired, industrial engineering, quality management or process development.
• Prior management experience
• Prior medical device indurstry experience desired

• Project Management
• Six Sigma certification
• Strong problem solving skills
