Introduction to role:

Join us as a Senior Scientist within Manufacturing Processes and Analytical Sciences (MPAS) and be part of shaping the future of Operations here at AstraZeneca. In this role, you will provide global support focused on the late-stage development, validation, and transfer of analytical methods needed to release and characterize our robust late-stage pipeline. You will work closely with QC testing sites (internal and external), other GTO functions, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Supply Chain organizations.

Accountabilities:

As a Senior Scientist, you will develop, transfer, and validate analytical methods. You will provide accurate documentation of experimental execution, analysis of results, and summary of reports. Additionally, you will assist with laboratory logistics: ordering of supplies, cleaning, and organization of bench areas for a safe and efficient work environment.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry or related field with 10+ years of experience, or Masters degree with 7+ years, or Ph.D with 5+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time-management, collaboration and communication skills.
  • The ability to embrace new technologies quickly and ability to perform in a fast-paced, matrix-structured work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, characterize and qualify/validate analytical methods per ICH Q2 (R2) Validation of Analytical Procedures and Q14 Analytical Procedure Development.
  • Experience performing standard laboratory procedures for physico chemical analyses including chromatography (HPLC, UPLC and GC), electrophoresis for protein fragmentation and charge analysis and spectroscopy e.g., FT-IR.
  • General knowledge of the fields of therapeutic protein characterization, including primary sequence analysis, post-translational modification analysis and routine release/stability testing assays.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with monoclonal antibody methods.
