Senior Scientist, Translational Proteomics, Mass Spectrometry

Are you a passionate and experienced scientist with a background in Mass Spectrometry and Clinical Proteomics? If so, AstraZeneca is looking for you! We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Translational Proteomics team within our Cancer Biomarker Development (CBD) group. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise and make a significant impact on the clinical development of oncology drugs with innovative biomarkers.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and applying mass spectrometry-based proteomics workflows for biomarker quantification in clinical samples. This will accelerate the development of AZ's oncology medicines. Your duties will include designing and implementing GCP-compliant targeted mass spectrometry assays for biomarker studies, processing clinical samples for translational and clinical studies, operating high-resolution LC-MS instruments, analyzing data, summarizing results, and presenting key results internally and externally. You will also collaborate with translational medicine and bioinformatics teams to develop protein biomarkers.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Ph.D. in bioanalytical chemistry or related field with 0-3 years post-doctoral experience in quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics.
  • Extensive experience acquiring and analyzing quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomic data.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with LC-MS instrumentation for operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, quality control, and standardization for proteomics workflows.
  • Experience with human biological sample preparation for quantitative LC-MS applications.
  • Proficient programming skills (R, Python) for advanced data analysis and visualization.
  • Experience in working independently and collaboratively, with strong communication skills.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in targeted proteomics, PRM/SRM assay development and definition of limits of quantitation.
  • Experience working in a GLP/GCP-regulated environment.
  • Experience with liquid handling robotics.
