Job Description

GPI seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer/Modeler to join our New York team and report to our office in either Babylon or Manhattan. We are seeking someone with excellent knowledge in traffic engineering and transportation modeling (micro, meso, and macro) who can ultimately lead our business development activities to expand our array of complex traffic simulation modeling projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct efforts to promote GPI's transportation modeling services.
  • Integrate our modeling services with other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop scope, schedules, and fee estimates for various pursuits.
  • Prepare proposals and marketing materials.
  • Present our modeling capabilities and project results to existing and potential clients.
  • Evaluate varying data sources (crash data, probe data, origin-destination data) to identify trends and potential solutions.
  • Train and mentor staff on traffic modeling processes and software.
Qualifications:
  • M.S. in Civil Engineering with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Possess an EIT and working towards registering as a Professional Engineer in NY.
  • Thorough understanding of capabilities, limitations, and use of traffic analysis tools, e.g., VISSIM, Aimsun, TransModeler, Cube, VISUM, Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, HCS, and the New York Best Practices Model (NYBPM).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
