BASIC FUNCTIONS: This position performs moderately difficult research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line. The position should have the ability to work on individual pieces of work and solve problems including the design of the program flow of individual pieces of code, effective coding, and unit testing.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience
• BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong hands-on Experience in developing responsive Single Page Web Application on top of one or more of the following client-side frameworks such as Angular.js (must have), jQuery, React.js;
  • Strong background with providing technical guidance to product design (UX/UI) teams for best practice approach for product interface and interaction specifications and developing maintainable HTML5 & CSS3 for implementing those specifications.
  • Hands-on experience architecting and developing fine-grained services using Java, modern Java EE frameworks (Spring Boot/Spring Core/Spring IO etc.), Hibernate, Node and Database technologies like Oracle, Postgres. Some experience Jetty and Tomcat is preferred.
  • Familiarity with deploying applications with container technology (Openshift, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Experience working in a microservice environment and troubleshooting complex systems using transaction logs and log aggregation systems (Kibana, Splunk)
  • Expertise with consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Strong experience working in Agile software environments (Scrum / Kanban)
  • Git source code repository experience (Github preferred)
  • Strong experience with agile work management systems (JIRA preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Redis, AWS ECS, Gradle, Elasticsearch, Learning Tools Interoperability standards.
  • Active experience leveraging collaboration wikis for documentation and knowledge sharing (Confluence preferred)
  • Windows or Mac OS using IDEs such as WebStorm, VSCode, etc
  • Knowledge of test-driven development.
  • Advance communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc., including diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and effective manner to clients, management, and various departments using assorted communication mediums.
  • Ability to complete complex bug fixes.
  • Experience working as part of a larger, geographically dispersed team.
  • Strong organization/project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments, and strong delegation skills involving prioritizing and reprioritizing projects and managing projects of various size and complexity.
  • Strong problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior success extracting/translating findings into alternatives/solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc., including diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and effective manner to clients, management, and various departments using assorted communication mediums.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
• Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
• Work closely with other development team members to understand moderately complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
• Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
• Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
• Resolve technical issues as necessary.
• Keep abreast of new technology developments.
• Complete bug fixes.
• All other duties as assigned.
