Senior Ruby of Rails Full Stack Engineer

What the job looks like:

You'll be part of a multi-disciplinary, agile Data Enablement team tasked with improving and modernizing DevSecOps and data governance practices in government authentication systems. The team balances research, prototyping, Data consulting, and AWS cost management.

  • Advance the state-of-the-practice for software engineering and Infrastructure as Code across Flexion and our clients
  • Learn and analyze new technologies and industry best practices to identify suitability for adoption by the team and our clients
  • Design, develop, document, and automate novel tools and infrastructure in enterprise-scale healthcare data systems that support multiple teams
  • Swarming and pairing with your team to design, code, test, debug, deploy, and document software in an agile environment
  • Tackle a wide variety of technical problems
  • Exercise your full tool-belt of skills and experience

You have:

  • 8+ years of application development experience
  • A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Production experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills
  • A passion for learning new technologies and the ability to do so quickly
  • Ability to write high-quality code efficiently
  • Experience with Agile application development
  • Knowledge and experience with several of the following:
    • Experience building APIs using a microservices architecture.
    • Bias towards test-first development practices like TDD and BDD.

  • Nice to Have(s):
    • Experience with automated unit testing, end-to-end testing, and smoke tests striving for 100% automated test coverage.
    • Experience with AWS infrastructure components such as Lambda, EC2, ECS, ECR, RDS, DynamoDB, EMR, KMS, CloudFormation, SNS, API Gateway, etc.
    • Working experience with container technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Bias towards build & pipeline automation, proactive monitoring, and shifting testing & security left with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Packer, CloudBees Jenkins, Nexus, Splunk, SonarQube, NewRelic, Nessus.
    • Experience with application logging, monitoring, and alerting.
    • Solid understanding of security best practices for API development and integration.
