The University of Miami is seeking a Staff Audiologist. The incumbent administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction . The incumbent administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, and speech reception and discrimination tests, to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment. Primary specialties are Diagnostics, Hearing Aids and Electrophysiology. The Staff Audiologist for this role must be prepared and comfortable in running a clinic independently, and may see several pediatric patients. Travel to satellite clinics may be required. Bilingual is preferred. Flexibility to cover for different audiology specialties in the absence of a co-worker is required.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs immittance and emissions testing.
  • Conducts auditory evoked potential assessments for patients.
  • Assesses hearing sensitivity and quality and provides patients with information regarding the results.
  • Dispenses hearing aids and fits devices based on patient's physiology and needs.
  • Consults with physicians and other professionals about patient's future needs and current progress.
  • Maintains client records at all stages including initial evaluation and discharge.
  • Documents all professional and clinical reports and conducts research on auditory topics.
  • Utilizes local, state, and national regulations to make decisions regarding service eligibility.
  • Participates in conferences, forums, and training sessions to remain up-to-date with or share knowledge of new hearing or speech disorder treatment methods.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions

• Performs audiological evaluation, hearing aid coverage and electrophysiology to one or more area clinic locations.
• Compiles test results and information to make appropriate recommendations and/or referrals.
• Participates in specialty-specific and other audiological meetings.
• Documents all professional and clinical reports in a timely manner.

• Is able to runs a clinic independently.

• May see, evaluate and fit patients of all ages.

• Takes add-on audiological evaluations and hearing aid evaluation appointments as needed, from the ENT clinic.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
• Will be expected to support clinical education activities including but not limited to observerships or students.

• May be expected to flex to provide coverage at other clinics in the absence of a colleague.

• May be asked to onboard at multiple clinics.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

• Doctorate of Audiology degree required.
• Current valid Florida Audiologist license required.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
• Three years of audiologist-related experience is preferred.

• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
