As an Environmental Professional at EI, you will be responsible for supporting Project Managers on project tasks and assignments to meet project profitability goals and deliver best in class services to our clients. Project focus areas include environmental planning and capital improvement projects

needing CEQA and NEPA compliance, documentation, and permitting under the CEQA and NEPA.

This role is ideally based in Southern California, but can be performed remotely.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team for CEQA and NEPA compliance permitting and documentation
  • Prepare and review projects, develop spreadsheets, prepare proposals, and manage database entries and quality assurance tasks.
  • Support project managers to oversee project compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Research CEQA/NEPA statutes and guidance.
  • Apply planning and regulatory requirements associated with EI's projects
  • Duties may include general and focused studies, writing reports, interaction with other company professionals and client contacts.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Participates in Company's continuous improvement programs and provides support to team efforts.
  • Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications
  • BS or MS in planning, environmental science, biology, ecology, or similar field
  • 1 to 3 years of professional experience as a environmental specialist, planner (or equivalent) in California with experience pertaining to a CEQA and NEPA compliance
  • Knowledge of current environmental regulations including CWA, CAA, ESA, CEQA, and NEPA
  • Exposure to project management tasks
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines
  • Proven leadership skills; identifies problems and actively devises appropriate solutions
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Outgoing / team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Ability to communicate in a group-oriented setting, establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leaders
  • Knowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.)
  • Ability to complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher class
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors
  • This position can be physically demanding and will require work in various working environments/conditions which requires that an individual be physically capable of canvassing large project areas by foot on various terrain and potentially in inclement weather
  • Work environment will vary greatly depending on nature of assigned tasks
  • The position may involve local travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with habitat and rare plant restoration, biological construction monitoring, and/or jurisdictional delineation surveys

Minimum salary of $65,000 to maximum $75, - commensurate with qualifications.
