Occupational Summary

Opening for a full time Stores Supervisor position which oversees a Convenience Store(s) within the Duke Stores organization. This position reports to the Assistant General Manager, Retail Stores. The Stores Supervisor will coordinate, monitor, and supervise assigned operational, merchandising, personnel, and customer service activities of a Convenience Store(s).

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day operations and personnel of a Convenience Store(s), including but not limited to: customer service, cash/financial management, product procurement and merchandising, inventory management, and store cleanliness.

Ensure sales floors are properly arranged according to store standards. Evaluate inventory movement and advise management of recommendations to properly display, move products to different locations, etc.

Maintain requested financial reports and records pertinent to store operations and in adherence with Duke Stores' policies, conduct bi-annual physical inventories of the store(s), and complete the reconciliation process, ensuring the accuracy of the data to the fullest extent possible.

Review sales and other pertinent reports on a daily basis and use data for determining appropriate staffing levels for upcoming schedules, needed stock levels based on historical sales, inventory turn, delivery lead times, and tracking inventory with pending expiration dates.

Determine appropriate stock levels for assigned store(s); order sufficient quantities of merchandise in a timely manner to ensure adequate inventory levels while minimizing waste and spoilage; and adjust order quantities as applicable for special situations (spring break, anticipated severe weather, Graduation Weekend, etc).

Monitor receiving and maintain inventory control within the store(s) by following established store security policies and procedures; track invoices to ensure they are paid on a timely basis.

Working in conjunction with Duke Stores senior managers, supervise staff and students working in assigned store(s); coordinate staffing, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate store coverage based on anticipated customer traffic levels; train stores' staff on customer service, policies, procedures, health and safety regulations and all other operational activities; ensure store staff are current on all required training.

Recommend and participate in various personnel functions to include hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, corrective actions, transfers, and vacation schedules.

Assist Senior Manager with budget and revenue projections and other duties and special projects as assigned.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training: Work requires communications, analytical, management, problem-solving and organizational skills generally acquired through the completion of an associate's degree or equivalent program. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Experience: Work requires three years' experience in retail, merchandising or related business to acquire skills necessary to assist in managing, planning, and controlling costs and profits, and supervising staff within a high volume, multifaceted retail enterprise. Prefer retail supervisory experience.

Skills:

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with close attention to detail and accuracy.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse and close-working team in a fast-paced setting. Ability to motivate, coach, and collaborate with peers and subordinates to achieve outstanding results.

· Quick learner with demonstrated problem-solving skills.

· Comfortable pulling sales and inventory data, and analyzing it to make decisions.

· Ability to learn and apply new technologies as needed.

· Heavy lifting is required

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires knowledge of general business and accounting principles usually acquired through two years post-secondary education in accounting or a related business field.

Experience

Work generally requires three years of experience in a retail setting OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE supervision. to acquire knowledge of the complex aspects of store operations and
