Job Description:
The Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting tax preparation activities including preparation of tax schedules, tax research, sales and use tax returns, and required annual reports for multiple related entities in the US and Canada. Serve as point of contact for outsourced tax advisors for corporate, partnership, shareholder, and trust income tax estimates and returns. Maintains fixed asset system.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and or review monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax filings according to deadlines
- Maintain fixed assets including budgeting, tracking of fixed assets, and tax depreciation schedules
- Prepare monthly Section 263a calculation. Make recommendations for changes/updates to the calculation
- Prepare supporting documentation for new state registrations, voluntary disclosures, and audits as necessary
- Respond to requests for additional information from taxing entities and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare monthly HST/GST returns for Canadian entity
- Provide supporting schedules and information for the timely completion of various outsourced tax returns including federal, and state filings (e.g., research and development credit schedules and foreign sourced income schedules)
- Maintain schedule of and complete required annual reporting in various states
- Review exemption certificates from customers to ensure validity
- Review use tax application for accuracy
- Maintaining tax tables in ERP system
- Perform tax research and monitor tax law changes and provide recommendations on tax planning and compliance
- Identify opportunities to streamline processing through automation or internal process improvements
Desired Skills and Experience
- Associate or bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 3+ years of direct work experience in various areas of tax compliance and filing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and team skills
- Proficient in O365 suite of products including Excel, Word, and SharePoint
- Experience with CSI/Syteline ERP and Avalara Tax highly desired
Work Environment:ADA Physical/Mental/Workplace Requirements
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to move easily about a manufacturing factory

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Gorbel, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
