(Contingent upon available funding): 0.00 - 0.00, Commensurate with education and experience Work Schedule: Monday-Friday Faculty Appt Period: 9 Months Job Summary: The Division of Engineering Technology at Oklahoma State University (OSU) seeks applications for the position of non-tenure-track Teaching Assistant Professor of Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology. The position will require teaching undergraduate level classes that may include topics such as Fire Safety Hazard Recognition, Hazardous Materials Incident Management, Senior Design, Suppression and Detection, Safety Management, Human Factors, or other classes as specified by the Head of Engineering Technology. A full-time appointment involves teaching three or four 3-credit hour courses, or equivalent, per semester. The appointment entails travel to China to teach relevant coursework for extended periods. It will also require course-related interactions with faculty and staff in China.

The Division of Engineering Technology (DET) houses six different engineering technology programs within the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT). With more than 500 undergraduates and 100 graduate students, DET fosters collaborative and interdisciplinary research in the strategic areas of Fire Protection and Safety Engineering, Fire and Emergency Management, Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics & Robotics, and Mechanical Engineering Technology. Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. / Ed.D. in Fire Protection Engr., Fire Protection Engr. Tech., FPSET or related field.

A Ph.D. is preferred, though candidates with exceptional industry experience, applicable professional licensure, and a M.S. will be considered.This position may include temporary assignments with our partner international university. In addition, there are collaborative opportunities to develop and offer innovative continuing education courses as a part of OSU's land grant mission. The successful applicant will enhance the existing faculty teaching portfolio in terms of technical expertise and professional practice. Responsibilities include development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum. This includes development of learning materials, preparing lectures and laboratory assignments, and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance. Providing a rigorous ongoing assessment process for all courses is required. Classroom delivery is expected to incorporate principles of active-learning.This position is expected to establish office hours and effectively manage graduate teaching assistants and/or undergraduate graders. The ability to accelerate the development of student written and oral communication skills is essential. The desired candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students while maintaining the highest standards in every challenging curriculum.
Other desirable skills or interests include, but are not limited to, building relationships with international partners in education, desire to travel for extended periods, service as the advisor to a student organization, undergraduate student advising, and participation on departmental, college or university committees.

Preferred Qualifications: 

A Ph.D. with a B.S. or M.S. degree in in a field related to fire protection engineering and technology is preferred.
Professional registration, teaching and research experience at the university level, and three years of industry experience are preferred.
