Position Information:
Title: Technician - SCADA
Location: Rochester, NY
Pay Range:$76,000 - $95,000

Job Purpose:
Responsible for the installation, maintenance and change orders of
SCADA, telemetry and telecommunications systems. May include minor
projects as they apply to the discipline. Must be available 24/7.
Responsibilities:
1. Responds to complex technical problems using hardware and software
testing and equipment tools.(25%,P)
2. Provides technical expertise for most SCADA, telemetry and
telecommunications projects.(15%,S)
3. Acts as a lead person for problem resolution with other divisions
within the corporation. May function as a lead person to train less
experienced employees.(30%,P)
4. Provides updates and revisions to schematic diagrams, procedures and
schedules as they relate to projects, as well as assisting in the
evaluation of new products and technologies.(10%,S)
5. Interfaces with Operations personnel to resolve communications
problems for protective relaying and to install and maintain fiber optic
terminal equipment.(10%,S)
6. Provides documentation and technical experience for field change
orders to existing SCADA, telemetry and communications systems. May
function as a backup for SCADA Field Engineer.(10%,S)
Required Skills and Abilities
- Understands electric substations, gas gate stations and generation control metering.
- Understands monitoring systems and how they interface with the Energy Control Center.
- Understands the corporate fiber optic network and the pilot wire system.
- Competent in programming software for communication, SCADA and telemetry systems
- Competent in the use of communication test equipment for T1, T3, Sonet networks, TDRs, OTDRs and meggers for testing communication circuits and cables, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, multimeters, logic analyzers, fiber optic tools and equipment to terminate and splice optical cable.
Experience:6-10 years of related experience.
Education:Associates Degree in Electrical Technology
