Job Description:


Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated opening for a Transfer Coordinator.

The Transfer Coordinator will be the primary person within Advising and Counseling Services to coordinate, develop, implement, and evaluate programs relating to transfer (advising, workshops, university/college tours, etc.) and assist students and other advisors in understanding the transfer process. This person will act as the primary contact with admissions offices in four-year colleges and universities to develop personal relationships which will assist our students in seeking transfer. The transfer coordinator will work with the Director of Advising and counseling to understand the articulation agreements and communicate that understanding to all advisors.

Duties & Responsibilities:


Develop, implement, and coordinate all issues pertaining to transfer advising including coordinating tours of four-year institutions, transfer seminars, and student activities.

Conduct workshops for students and advisors in understanding the details of different programs, majors, or colleges.

Develop contacts in the Admissions Office across a wide spectrum of colleges to understand the transfer requirements and to make connections for students.

Maintain accurate and current knowledge of degree and certificate programs of study, academic policies and operations, and College rules and procedures while maintaining the security of student records and correspondence with appropriately strict confidentiality.

Work closely with the Manager of Articulation and Adult Learning regarding NJ Transfer and other items.

Advise students on opportunities for transfer and assist them in using all available resources; including assisting students in course selections to maximize transferability.

Serve as a resource to fellow advisors; providing information and training to keep all staff current on issues related to transfer.

Develop an electronic file so information can be kept current and available to all who advise.

Advise students on academic planning, course selection, choice of major, academic standards, educational strategies, transfer information, and other areas as needed.

Make informed professional judgments regarding student referral to personal counselors, financial aid, career planning, and other campus services.

Support all ACS advising efforts/outreach.

Additional duties as assigned.



Requirements:


Minimum of 3 years of experience in student services including three years working in a college academic advising and/or transfer office.

Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. High degree of reliability and flexibility; ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Education, Counseling or Higher Education Administration.

Prior community college experience.

Bilingual.
