The UAS Standards and Policy Manager will report to the UAS Safety Director to support all Test Site Directors in the development of policy, processes, and procedures in alignment with standards and policy for safety assurance. This position will keep informed of the latest regulatory and policy trends for Unmanned Aircraft Systems to support NPUASTS clients and NPUASTS employees. The UAS Standards and Policy Manager will represent the NPUASTS in industry standards and policy groups through participation in person and virtually. Occasional travel will be required.

• Support safety systems, policy, process, and procedures development, maintenance, and training:
  • Aid in NPUASTS client and organizational process, function, and safety assurance
  • Write clear, concise, and detailed documents to be understandable by the reader using consistent application styles and established layout plans within documents.
  • Support organizational and clients calls, as required.
  • Support local, regional, and state meetings and conferences, as required.
• Participate in Standards and Industry Activities:
  • Participate and support multi-stakeholder standards and industry activities
  • Provide information and content to support briefings with customers, legislators, and policy makers.

• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, teamwork, written and verbal communication skills.

• Undergraduate degree.
• Experience writing technical documents such as reports, training curriculum, or policy.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Willingness and ability to travel, as required.
• Valid Drivers License.

• Aviation degree or equivalent aviation background/experience.
• Experience with Public Policy and/or regulatory initiatives.
• Experience with safety programs and/or safety management systems
• Experience with FAA Guidance on Unmanned Aircraft.
• Experience obtaining waivers, exemptions, or authorization processes with the FAA.
• Experience briefing upper-level management and senior executives.
