ABS Group is seeking a User Research Lead to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

What You Will Do:

In this role, you will establish UI/UX system strategies, lead customer engagement, manage user-centered design (UCD) knowledge for standards, and conduct and synthesizes user research. Responsibilities include:

  • Establish design style, feature, and accessibility standards captured in a comprehensive design style guide
  • Produce a published set of standards for the system producing a consistent, accessible, look, feel, and UX
  • Use prototyping and iterative refinement to bring ideas to life through tangible representations of the final product
  • Collect feedback from users through usability testing and iterative refinement as part of design validation
  • Validate design style guidance use, properly accounting for user preferences at the page design and flow levels
  • Operate according to Agile development principles and within 3-week sprint cycle
  • Capture understanding and functionality from legacy system functionality or manual activities to express in new user designs
  • Ensure user research and design activities on the call order comply with the Federally governed delivery approach and incorporate industry best practices.
This position is remote, with an expectation to occasionally travel to FEMA HQ in Washington, D.C. if needed.

What You Will Need:

Required:
  • 8-10 years User Research experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • U.S. Citizenship
Desired:
  • Federal/FEMA Grants management and Federal/FEMA Records Management experience
  • Federal Privacy Requirements and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) requirements experience- Federal/DHS/FEMA Security Requirements experience
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification or Forrester CX certification
